Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat

Meet & greet upon arrival in the International Airport of Casablanca where your private driver/guide will assist you with your luggage before heading to the city center. Depending on your arrival time, we may want to include a guided tour of the Hassan II Mosque before heading to Rabat through the highway; otherwise, we can schedule our visit to the Mosque in the last before your departure.

Day 2: Rabat - Ouazzane - Chefchaouen

After breakfast, you’ll head to the blue-painted city of Chefchaouen. Visit the official capital of Morocco, Rabat. This UNESCO World Site Heritage Site listed city since 2012 is home of the King & the Royal family. Start your tour by the dramatic Oudayas Kasbah (fortress) with its tranquil but beautiful streets. Visit the Hassan Tower, which is the landmark of Rabat, then the Mohammed V Mausoleum where the grandfather, father & uncle of the Morocco’s are buried.

After that you’ll drive to Chefchaouen through the fertile agricultural plain Gharb, then Ouazzane before reaching the blue city in the late afternoon.

Day 3: Full-Day Exploring Chefchaouen

Today, you’ll spend the day exploring what this charming city has to offer. Chefchaouen is known for its blue-painted streets turning into one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. You may want to start your day tour of Chefchaouen from the Utta Hammam Square, which is in the heart of the Medina. Visit the Kasbah & the Museum, meander around the streets that are shrouded in mystery before getting to the Ras el-Ma Spring. The spring offers breathtaking views and is the cultural hub where women tend to wash clothes and carpets.

Day 4: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, we will head to Fes with a nice drive through the spectacular Rif Mountains. En route, you’ll have a guided tour of the Roman Ruins of Volubilis, then continue on the track to Meknes, which was the Morocco’s imperial city in the 17th century. This mysterious city was built by the late Sultan Moulay Ismail with its long & high walls, bastions and strongholds. Start the tour of Meknes by the impressive Bab Mansour Gate, stretch your legs in the olive market, drive through the royal high walls, then the royal granaries & stables.

You’ll drive to the spiritual capital of Fes through the highway, which we will reach in the evening.

Day 5: Explore Fes - Midelt

Today, you’ll spend the first half-day exploring what Fes has to offer with a private local guide who knows the city as the back of their hand. Drive uphill where you can get a complete panoramic view of the Fes el-Bali (Oldest Fes) and learn how it’s the largest car-free district in the world turning it into a UNESCO listed heritage site. Visit the Royal Palaces where you can take pictures by its golden gates before meandering around the Mellah (former Jewish Quarter).

Now, it’s time to have a guided walking tour of the Fes el-Bali with its countless intricate alleyways, vibrant streets, lined-cafes, museums, koranic schools and much more. Visit the famous Qarawiyyin University, which is the oldest formal university in the world. In the late afternoon, we will drive south through Ifrane while including a short break in the cedar forest that hosts a colony of Barbary Apes.

Day 6: Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Merzouga Desert

After having breakfast, we will drive further south to the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi with a nice drive through the High Atlas Mountains. We will include a short break for taking pictures in the Ziz Gorge, the palm-dotted valley of Ziz before reaching the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi in the late afternoon.

It’s time to have your lifetime experience by having the camel in the desert while enjoying the breathtaking views of the sunset. Return to the desert camp where you’ll have dinner in our luxurious tented restaurant or under the stars.

Day 7: Merzouga Desert - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Wake up in the early morning to attend the majestic view of the sunrise atop the sand dune. Walk back to the camp for having a refreshing breakfast, followed by a shower before heading west to the Dades Valley through Erfoud, which is known for the excavation of fossils and minerals with its factories that are open to explore this hidden geological field.

You’ll drive through the palm oasis of Tinjdad to the impressive Todra Gorge (Canyon) where you can stretch your legs while enjoying the breathtaking views. After lunch, you’ll drive to the Dades Valley, which we will reach in the late afternoon.

Day 8: Dades Valley - Nomad Caves - Skoura - Ouarzazate

Today, we will drive in the barren desert in the very heart of the mountains while including a visit to a nomad family that still live in a cave. You’ll learn about their lifestyle and how they have been able to endure the harshness of nature. Drive through Ait Bout Gharar Village with its lush valleys, then to the Valley of Roses before getting to Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) through the palm oasis of Skoura.

Day 9: Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, we will head to Marrakech through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains while including a visit to the dramatic Ait Benhaddou Village. It’s a UNESCO listed village that consists of numerous Kasbahs (fortresses), which are a striking example of the southern architecture. After lunch, we will continue on the track to Marrakech with an interesting drive over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) with its countless Berber Villages that are built in adobe and stones.

Day 10: Full-Day Exploring Marrakech

Today, you’ll spend the day exploring the best of Marrakech with a private local tour guide. Drive through the Ville Nouvelle that was built by the French with its modern buildings leading us to the botanical gardens of Majorelle that are owned by Saint Laurent. Enjoy this charming oasis on earth, the drive back to the Medina where you will have a guided walking tour while visiting the Saadian Tombs that go back to the 15th century. Meander around the alleyways to the Bahia Palace through the Mellah (former Jewish Quarter) before losing yourself in the vibrant Souks that are organized into sections.

You’ll end your tour in the Jemaa El-Fna Square (the focal point of Marrakech).

Day 11: Free-Day in Marrakech

After having breakfast, you’ll have a day to spend on your own as you may want to have another walk within the vibrant streets of the Medina. Have a Spa treatment or a scrub in a Hammam. In the evening, you may want to visit the Jemaa el-Fna Square that turns into a carnival filled with musicians, snake charmers, story-tellers, fortune-tellers, acrobats and food stalls selling Moroccan delicacies.

Day 12: Marrakech - Casablanca

Today, you’ll drive to Casablanca Airport; however, we may want to schedule a tour of the Hassan II Mosque before you set off depending your flight’s time.

As always, once we arrive in Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Casablanca… we will make sure to drop you off in the nearest location to your accommodation; however, if your Riad is in the very heart of the Medina, which is inaccessible by car, we will have you covered as we will arrange with the staff members of the Riad you are staying in to meet up with us in a designated point so that you they can escort you to your accommodation hassle-free…

Is this a private tour?

We certainly believe that the best way to dive deep in the Moroccan culture is through private tours. You can stop whenever & wherever you like while learning at your own pace. Shared tours tend to cramp travelers & you are controlled to follow a certain planned itinerary.

Does the tour to Zagora includes lots of driving?

Zagora Desert remains the closest desert experience one can opt for from Marrakech if you are short of time. However, you can go with the private 3 or 4 days desert tour to Erg Chebbi from Marrakech.

Are there any sand dunes in Zagora Desert?

The Desert of Zagora is a flat barren & rocky desert with a small sand dune by the desert camp. The real sand dunes are located either in Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga.

What should I pack when I travel to the desert?

On your next Morocco desert tour, make sure you pack the following
